Pashmina Scarves from Kashmir
Other than spices, my favorite thing to shop for in India is Kashmir scarves. Made from the wool of the Changra goat in the Kashmiri and Ladakh regions of Himalaya, it is the finest and highest quality wool in the world. Pashmina is the Persian word “pashm” which means wool while in the Kashmiri language pashm means “raw unspun wool
Made from the wool of the Changra goats, they shed their undercoat and the fur is collected, cleaned, hand-spun and woven into these beautiful scarves that keep you warm in every season. With the help of my friend, Subhi, I selected the softest and highest quality scarves I could find. They are perfect to travel with, as they are lightweight and take up little space. They should only be hand-washed and hung to dry.
